1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the eLightCloud public website and website-based communications operated by ELIGHTCLOUD Inc. ("eLightCloud," "we," "us," or "our"). It does not govern personal information that we process for a client under a separate services agreement. That processing is controlled by the applicable agreement and project documentation.
By using the website, you acknowledge the practices described here. Our Terms of Use separately govern use of the website.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Contact and business information: name, work email address, company, selected topic, project context, and any optional phone number or other information you submit.
- Communications: information in messages, follow-up correspondence, feedback, and privacy requests.
- Chat information: if a chat feature is available and you use it, your prompts, the recent conversation context sent with a request, and a conversation identifier. Do not submit passwords, credentials, regulated data, confidential client data, or sensitive personal information in chat.
Information generated when the site operates
Our servers and service providers may generate technical and usage records such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, timestamps, error records, and security events. We use this information to deliver, troubleshoot, protect, and understand the website.
Browser storage
If you use chat, the site may place a conversation identifier in session storage so the conversation can continue during that browser session. Session storage is designed to clear when the session ends. We may also use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies provided by hosting and security services to deliver and protect the site.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to inquiries, arrange discovery calls, and communicate about requested services;
- provide and maintain website features, including contact and chat functions;
- authenticate requests, prevent abuse, investigate incidents, and protect the website and our business;
- debug, evaluate, and improve website performance, content, and user experience;
- maintain business records and comply with applicable law, legal process, and contractual obligations; and
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We may deidentify or aggregate information and use it for lawful purposes. We do not attempt to reidentify information maintained in deidentified form.
4. How we disclose information
We may disclose information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described above:
- Service providers: website hosting, infrastructure, security, email delivery, communications, and AI chat providers that process information on our behalf.
- Professional advisers: legal, audit, insurance, and other advisers subject to appropriate confidentiality duties.
- Authorities and other parties: when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or enforce our agreements.
- Transaction participants: in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not offer financial incentives for personal information. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any notice and choice required by law before applying the change.
5. Retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to and managing a business inquiry, maintaining security and operational records, meeting legal or contractual requirements, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods vary by record type, sensitivity, relationship status, legal requirements, and the schedules of service providers. We then delete or deidentify information when reasonably practicable.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet transmission, system, or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to or a copy of personal information, correction, deletion, data portability, or information about how we use and disclose it. You may also have rights to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; appeal a denied request; and receive equal service when exercising a privacy right.
To submit a request, use the website contact form and select Privacy request, or write to the mailing address in Contact us. Please describe your request and the state in which you reside. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authority and direct verification with you.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You may appeal a refusal by replying to our response and stating that you are appealing the decision. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
7. Supplemental notice for California residents
This section describes categories of personal information we have collected and disclosed for business purposes during the preceding 12 months. Whether a particular California privacy law applies to us depends on statutory thresholds and other facts; when it applies, we provide the rights described in this policy.
| Category | Examples and sources | Business-purpose recipients | Sold or shared |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, work email, IP address, and online identifiers; collected from you or generated through site operation. | Hosting, security, communications, email, and chat providers as relevant. | No |
| Internet or network activity | Browser, device, pages requested, timestamps, referral and diagnostic data; generated through site operation. | Hosting, infrastructure, and security providers. | No |
| Professional information | Company, role or business context, and service interests; collected from you. | Communications and email providers and relevant advisers. | No |
| Communication content | Contact-form messages, correspondence, and chat prompts; collected from you. | Email, communications, and chat providers as relevant. | No |
We do not knowingly collect, sell, or share personal information of consumers under 16. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. California residents may exercise applicable rights as described in Your privacy rights.
8. Cookies, tracking, and browser signals
We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral advertising on this website. Because there is no universally accepted standard for browser "Do Not Track" signals, the site does not respond differently to those signals. We treat a legally recognized opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out where applicable. Because we do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, such a signal does not change current site behavior.
Third-party websites linked from our site have their own privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.
9. Children and international users
The website is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the website. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
eLightCloud is based in the United States. If you access the website from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, services, or legal obligations. We will post the revised policy here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle information already collected, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
